BEA’s PHOENIX EXTM combines a microwave activation sensor in an explosion-proof / flame-proof housing, which is ideal for use in unique environments such as chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining and military facilities.
The PHOENIX EXTM is designed to detect within a desired area for security, warning indication and automation. When tied into a security system, the PHOENIX EXTM offers a monitoring feature via the end-of-line resistors. These resistors provide unique output states, which allow differentiation between an activation signal and an interruption in functionality due to tampering of the device.
The explosion-proof / flame-proof housing is a water-proof rated enclosure designed as an IP66 housing. This housing achieves UL Class I, Div. 1, Groups B, C, D; Class II, Div. 1 & 2, Groups E, F, G; and Class III***.

BEA Universal Remote Control
Can the PHOENIX be used as a safety sensor?
No, the PHOENIX is a motion sensor to be used for activation only. It is not capable of detecting stationary people or objects.
What if a tamper switch’s logic is the opposite of the PHOENIX?
Reverse the PHOENIX output logic from N.O. to N.C. (see the “Output Configuration” section of the User’s Guide).
Can the PHOENIX be adjusted without using a remote control?
Yes, but is recommended to use remote control. To adjust manually, remove the housing cover and override the tamper switch, make all adjustments per the instructions in the “Push Button” section of the User’s Guide, and then re-install the housing cover and reset the tamper switch.
Can the PHOENIX be painted a different color?
Yes. Avoid any overspray on the lens cover.
Can the PHOENIX be adjusted to only detect vehicles instead of vehicles and people?
Yes. See the “Detection Filter” section of the User’s Guide.
Can the PHOENIX be adjusted to detect everything from any direction?
Yes. Leave Detection Filter at 1 and set Detection Mode to 1 for Bi-Directional.
