Description

BEA’s Restroom Kit is designed for both normally locked and normally unlocked single occupancy restrooms.

The kit’s control center is the Br3-X, a programmable 3-relay advanced logic module featuring restroom control functionality.

Why is the BR3-X not working after being programmed to “nL”?

Verify that h1, h2, and d1 are all set for the given application.

 

Why is the electric strike not releasing when the door attempts to open?

Verify that the “WET/DRY” jumper is set to “WET” and the “AC/DC” jumper setting matches the power requirements of the electric strike. Also verify that the h1 timer is set to anything other than “00.”

 

Can I use the BR3-X on a manual door?

Yes. It will still lock and disable the outside push plate. The Emergency Add-On kit may also be used.

 

Can I use a keypad instead of the exterior push plate to restrict access to the restroom?

Yes. You can use any dry-contact, secure device in place of the exterior push plate.

 

Why does the electric strike energize and unlock when the door is closed?

Verify that your door switch on IN4 and GRND is correct.

 

Can a sensor activate the system when a person is in the bathroom?

You will need to qualify which sensor will work for your size and layout of bathroom.

 

Why is the electric strike working backwards?

The BR3-X function must match the type of electric strike. I.e. Fail Safe = nU, Fail Secure = nL.

 

Do I need to use an MOV (metal oxide varistor) with my electric strike?

No. MOV is built in to the BR3-X.

 

Can I use electrified hardware instead of an electric strike?

Yes. Verify your amperage; you may need need to use an external power supply for that device.

 

Why is the outside push plate not inhibited by the PUSH TO LOCK button?

Verify that the door position switch is closed when door is closed.
Place a jumper on IN4 of the BR3-X and test.
